SEMPER FIDELIS

I love Jesus, have incredibly cool friends, obsessed with peanut butter, love taking pictures of everything and anything, wish I could play an instrument, music is a must, (yes, a country fan), consume an unhealthy amount of chocolate chip waffles, have a nose that can't stop bleeding, very spontaneous, passionate but have no specific hobbies, really weird, my mom is my twin, loud crazy spazz of a girl, and I have an unreal kind of joy that can only come from the Maker of the Universe. I think it's safe to say that I am truly blessed.

Gotta Love Them Italians!

So let me tell you a funny story from my extravaganzas in Boston.

It was a beautiful Thursday afternoon and my team and I were roaming the streets of Little Italy on the North End to find a place to eat lunch, when suddenly I heard a voice out of nowhere say “Hey! Hey!”. I ignored it, thinking I was crazy, but after a while I decided to turn around and see which one of the hooligans on my team was messing with Katherine and I. To my surprise it was NOT one of my friends, rather, it was two older Italian toursits that had gotten into the mix of our crew. I was so confused! THEN, they began to say “It’s her! It’s her!”. All I could think was Yep, it’s MEEEE, starting to get a little ceeped out. I tried to walk on ignoring the two men but even more they continued to say “It’s her! It’s her!” but this time they added to their exclamations “She’s the girl from that one movie!”. NOW I was really confused. I wanted to burst out laughing but before I could catch a breathe I was being pulled under one of the man’s arms while his friend started taking picture of  the two of us. It was then that I heard “She’s the one from Titanic”. Finally the dots were connected. Someone else said “Kate Winslet?”. The two man began to  joyously respond “Yes, yes, yes”, continuing to take pictures. Being the awkward girl I am I immediately started to pull away saying “What the heck? No I am NOT her” trying to hold back the hysterical laughter that was welling up inside of me. This remark didn’t phase those two at all. The man kept me under his arm and his buddy continued to snap the pictures. What I didn’t know at the time was that my good friend, Katherine Nixon, was reassuring them the whole time that I was in indeed her (Kate Winslet) and that I just get shy when people realize it’s me which is why I was telling them I’m not who they think I was. (THANKS by the way love! You are so very kind!) Well anyways, I finally got loose and jumped out of the flurry of people with my team following behind me, laughing up a storm. They preceded to call me Kate for the rest of the day and occasionally throughout the trip, referring to themselves as my entourage, cracking jokes right and left about my secret celebrity life! Even though I was freaked out and completely overwhelmed with confusion and bewilderment in the midst of the experience, it was definitely a highlight from the trip! I mean DANG! She’s a good lookin woman, I don’t mind the compliment at all. Hahahah I personally don’t think we look that alike but HEY I’ll take it. :)  Good times! Good times! This is only one of the hilarious things that happened in our time together! God was so good to bring some pretty funny experiences our way during our time in the city which brought us much closer as a team. We had so much fun! Thank You Jesus!

(This is what I looked like on Thursday. Could I pass? You decide.)

Wanna know how serious God is about justice?? GET THIS!!!

Amos 5:21-24

“I hate, I reject your festivals,
Nor do I delight in your solemn assemblies.
“Even though you offer up to Me burnt offerings and your grain offerings,
I will not accept them
And I will not even look at the peace offerings of your fatlings.
“Take away from Me the noise of your songs;
I will not even listen to the sound of your harps.
“But let justice roll down like waters
And righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.”

“You see, I am working even this minute to have you both ready at the same time”
The other day I was walking to class and I began to look around me at all the guys scattered everywhere. I started feeling overwhelmed, wondering how I will ever be able to know which guy is right for me when there are so many in the world. Then I got frustrated, knowing I shouldn’t be so worried about things like that and so I immediately began to ask God to take my eyes from searching, but before I could even finish my prayer He blessed me with the most beautiful insight into relationships He has ever given me. This is what He said, “Natalie, My dear, the man who is most desirable and beautiful and right for you is the man that most resembles Me, through the love he has for Me; but Natalie, the only way you will be able to see this in a man, is if you love Me first and love Me most.” I have always struggled with wondering how I will be sure about a man, and how to know if he is someone God wants me to spend my life with. But of course, in an instant, I went from being completely clueless, to having my eyes opened to a truth that made perfect sense. Of course I want a man who loves the Lord above all other things and desires  to live his life after Christ’s own character, but how in the world would I ever be able to see that in a man if I didn’t know what it looked like to desire the Lord above all other things and even more if I wasn’t really familiar with God’s character myself, durrrr Natalie! Seek Jesus more, love Jesus more, stop worrying…more, and He will make it very clear to you!
Here is a quote my sister showed me recently that goes along with what God showed me; yet this probably makes much more sense than all my jumbled up words. Please read it. I’m sure it will bless you and open up your eyes!
“Everyone longs to give themselves completely to someone. To have a deep, loving relationship with one another, to be loved thoroughly and exclusively. But God says to a Christian, “No, not until you are satisfied, fulfilled and content with being loved by Me alone, with giving yourself totally, unreservedly to Me alone…I love you my child, and until you discover that only in Me is your satisfaction to be found, You will not be capable of the perfect human relationship that I have planned for you! You will never be united with another until you are united with Me, exclusive of any other desires and longings. I want you to stop planning, stop wishing, and allow Me to bring it to you. Just keep watching Me, expecting the greatest things. Keep experiencing that satisfaction knowing that I AM. Keep learning and listening to the things I tell you. Don’t worry, don’t be anxious. Don’t look around at the things that others have gotten. Don’t look at the things you think you want.  Just keep looking off and away and up to Me, Or you will miss out on what I want to show you. Then you will be ready, I will surprise you with a love far more wonderful than you would ever dream of. You see, I am working even this minute to have you both ready at the same time, and until you are both satisfied exclusively with Me and the life I have prepared for you, You won’t be able to experience the love that exemplifies your relationship with Me, And to enjoy materially and concretely the everlasting union I offer you with Myself. Know that I love you eternally. I am God almighty. Believe and be satisfied.”

BAM!!!

Someone suggested I blog this…so I did.

Something the Lord has really been showing me:

He hears our cries. Let me say that again, He HEARS our cries. This is something I’ve clearly known for a very long time or else I wouldn’t be seeking Him still today, BUT the intensity of that promise hit me hard and deep the other day. In the exact moment when we lift our voices to Him, He’s right there taking it all in, softening hearts, healing wounds, breaking barriers, creating a world of possibilities. He is NOT letting our calls go to voicemail, which, in a sense is what we sometimes tend to think. But that is all wrong because He will always answer when we call.

Psalm 18:6 In my distress I called upon the Lord, And cried to my God for help; He heard my voice out of His temple, And my cry for help before Him came into His ears.

Psalm 31:22 As for me, I said in my alarm, “I am cut off from before Your eyes”; Nevertheless You heard the voice of my supplications when I cried to You.

Psalm 34:15 The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous and He opens His ears to their cry.

Psalm 34:17 The righteous cry, and the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.

psalm 40:1 I waited patiently for the Lord; And He inclined to me and heard my cry.

The answer to all things: Fear the Lord

Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdomAnd the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

Proverbs 2:3-5 For if you cry for discernment, Lift your voice for understanding; If you seek her as silver And search for her as for hidden treasures; Then you will discern the fear of the LORD And discover the knowledge of God.

Jesus: The Best Birthday Present

Psalm 34:1-10

1 I will bless the LORD at all times;
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
2 My soul will make its boast in the LORD;
The humble will hear it and rejoice.
3 O magnify the LORD with me,
And let us exalt His name together.

 4 I sought the LORD, and He answered me,
And delivered me from all my fears.
5 They looked to Him and were radiant,
And their faces will never be ashamed.
6 This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him
And saved him out of all his troubles.
7 The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him,
And rescues them.

 8 O taste and see that the LORD is good;
How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!
9 O fear the LORD, you His saints;
For to those who fear Him there is no want.
10 The young lions do lack and suffer hunger;
But they who seek the LORD shall not be in want of any good thing.

God blessed me with this wonderful passage today!This is how I want to live my life. Praising Jesus for every day He has given me, literally EVERY DAY! Remembering how He brought me back to Him and saved me from my sins. How He wipes away my fears and instead causes me to be in awe of His greatness! Reminding me that He is with me always and will guide me in my steps. And showing me that all good things are in Him, so stop looking anywhere else!

I desire to be a God fearing woman who can’t stop rejoicing in the the Lord, unashamed and loved, completely satisfied in His presence, and trusting Him because He is Always Faithful! This is just the beginning of an amazing new year of life!

Thank You Jesus! I love You.

Started my very own memory jar today! So excited for this new year of life. The Lord has been so good to me and things are only gonna get sweeter! Praise God for life!

King of Kings

I was asked a question today in chapel, “who is king in your life?” I was remembered instantly to the day I was baptized at summer camp almost two years ago. My youth pastor Ryan asked me right before they dunked me under the water, “So Natalie, why are you here? What made you want to do this?” I remember replying “Because I want Jesus to be the King of my life.” The words of a girl ready for a new life to begin. Still today my desire is the same. Jesus be the King of my life!
